After having my SC on for 2 1/2 years I finally threw a code. I shorted the connector and it would give me one long blink, pause, one long blink, pause...code 1 right? I find it hard to believe that my O2 sensor could be bad. My car is driven like I stole it. Redline everyday. I don't see how there could be any deposits anywhere. It's weird, the CEL comes on and then my car will run rough and not have any power when I go into boost but will run fine off boost. After I drive it for a couple miles it'll drive fine. You guys who have had code 1 ever experience this? Disregard the other topic from "The Iceman". It's my other username for some other forum. Thanks.

I don't exactly know how many o2 sensors your car has or where they are located on your car..

but I'd check the harness/wiring on your primary o2 sensor. Maybe start your engine and wiggle the connection to see if that causes you to cause a short and throw that code 1 again.

    just a thought.

I'm not sure how long they last. I can get mine to throw a code (1) on the same hill on my way to work in the morning. My A/F meter doesen't indicate any problem so I think it's just the sensor.
I read on a civic board that there's a universal 02 sensor at NAPA that will splice into a 4 wire harness. Also heard a 4-wire Ford F150 will work too.

I'm going to ignore mine until it becomes more frequent.

Yeah, I plan on doing the same thing too. Until it becomes more frequent I'm not going to worry about it. When your light comes on does your motor run like crap for a bit like mine? My a/f meter show's normal readings as well when my motor goes back to running smooth on it's own. I'll keep the NAPA and the Ford sensors in mind though. Thanks.

    Angry

Well I guess I jinxed myself - the CEL is now on all the time for my 02 sensor.

Right now I'm looking at Automedic.com for $55 and carparts.com has an NGK/NTK model for $88.
I don't think the $55 can be beat, but I'm leaning towards the NGK due to their reputation for quality.
Thats a whole lot better than the Bosch unit for $150 at AutoZone ($194 at NAPA)

I've been away for a few days so I haven't been able to reply. That sucks that your light is on all the time now. Does your car run OK though? Any kind of rough running or hesitation?
